Maribor is associated with the Austrian city Graz by the initiative “Euroregion Graz-Maribor” which supports economic and cultural cooperation. Another city worth visiting lies around 70 km south of Ljubljana and can be easily reached via Trebnje and Otocec: Novo Mesto. It was founded in 1365 by the Duke Rudolf IV of the House of Habsburg. The castle Graben is an impressive medieval fortress which sits enthroned on the banks of the Krka between Krka upon Krk and Ragov.
